London, London, London. If you’ve been reading my blogs, you’ll know I spend quite a lot of time photographing there. How could I not when one of the most vibrant cities in the world sits on my doorstep. However as interesting as the city is, I’d become a little bit bored of walking around much of the same locations over and over. This led me to wonder where else I could easily get to and of course the first thing to do was simply take the train in the opposite direction.
Much like London there is a large amount of construction going on in the city. These new flats are being built directly across the road from the train station. 1/30s 50mm F8.0 with polariser Fuji Acros II Bronica SQ-A.

Cambridge is another city with a long and distinguished history, well known for its very famous university, which is one of the best, not just in this country, but globally. Full of historical buildings, interesting architecture, and more bicycles than Beijing (perhaps a slight exaggeration), there was plenty to shoot with my trust Bronica SQ-A. One fun insight I should add though is that this was actually across two different trips. Originally it was supposed to be one, but I foolishly left all my other rolls of film in the fridge the first time around, so a return trip was required. It was bound to happen eventually. Learn from my mistakes people, always get your gear ready the night before even if you think you have time on the day. Otherwise there’s always something you’ll forget.
Cambridge University Library, where I went to see the current samurai exhibit which runs out on the 28th May. Well worth seeing if you have an interest in Japan or Japanese history. 8s 50mm F8.0 Fuji Acros II Bronica SQ-A.

As the name suggests, Cambridge is a bridge over the River Cam. It’s water ways remain popular for tourists to ride down on boat hires. 1/8s 110mm F8.0 Fuji Acros II Bronica SQ-A.
Another fascinating and well recognised icon of Cambrige is Mathematical Bridge. While is appears to be a curved arch it is in fact made entirely out of straight timbers. A genius piece of architectural design which was first built in 1749. 15s 50mm F8.0 Fuji Acros II Bronica SQ-A.
As you walk from the train station into the inner city - The Church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs grabs your attention which its grandness. 1/4s 110mm F8.0 with polariser Fuji Acros II Bronica SQ-A.
Whilst it may be much smaller, the Round Church is also well known and well visited. 60s 50mm F8.0 Fuji Acros II Bronica SQ-A.
I personally find black and white film really comes alive at night, its grain enhancing the dark and contrasty atmosphere. This restaurant with its small delivery vehicle (for display) caught my eye as soon as I approached it. 8s 50mm F8.0 Fuji Acros II Bronica SQ-A.

This Deliveroo man thankfully stood still long enough in a well lit area for me to take this photo at such a slow shutter speed. There’s plenty of them on duty at night. 1/15s 110mm F8.0 Fuji Acros II Bronica SQ-A.

Though that is not the case for everyone. Like many other big cities, despite its wealth there is a sizeable homeless population. 30s 50mm F8.0 Fuji Acros II Bronica SQ-A.
And of course how could we forget the many many bicycles that populate the city. Unfortunately bike theft is also very high, hence the need for exceptionally good bike locks. 1/15s 50mm F8.0 Fuji Acros II Bronica SQ-A.
